AI Build Lab @ Toronto Tech Week

About

From idea → prototype in 1 day. No more waiting. Most people don’t lack ideas. They lack the space, structure, and support to actually start. During Toronto Tech Week, we’re changing that. Why This Event Exists We’ve seen this pattern across thousands of students, professionals, and founders: “I’ve been thinking about this idea for months…” “I want to build something but don’t know where to start…” “I’m not technical, so I don’t think I can…” The reality today? 👉 AI has changed the game. 👉 The barrier to building is lower than ever. 👉 But execution is still the biggest gap. This event is designed to close that gap. Not through another panel. Not through theory. But by getting you to actually build something, in the room. What This Experience Is The AI Build Lab is a 5–6 hour guided sprint + workshop + showcase designed to help you go from: 👉 idea → problem clarity → MVP → live demo All in one day. You’ll work in curated teams (with both technical + non-technical participants), supported by mentors, and move through a structured build process used by real product teams. As outlined in the workshop structure, each team is supported by a dedicated mentor and follows a clear build framework focused on defining the user, problem, MVP, and execution path . 👀 Who This Is For This is intentionally designed to be inclusive of all skill levels : Developers & engineers Product managers, designers, operators Students & early-career professionals Newcomers exploring opportunities in tech Non-technical individuals curious about AI Aspiring founders & side-project builders 👉 You do NOT need: a full idea a technical background prior experience building Just curiosity + willingness to try. What You’ll Actually Do This isn’t a sit-and-listen event. You will: Learn how AI tools can be used to build real products Understand how to think like a product builder Work in a team to define a real problem Scope a realistic MVP (not overbuilt ideas) Build a working prototype using AI tools Get feedback from mentors Share your work with the community What You’ll Leave With By the end of the day, you won’t just have “learned something.” You’ll have: ✅ A real project or prototype ✅ Hands-on experience using AI tools ✅ A portfolio-ready build (huge for job seekers) ✅ New collaborators, mentors, and connections ✅ A repeatable framework to keep building For many, this becomes: your first project your first proof of work or the start of something much bigger High-Level Agenda 🟢 11:00 – 11:30 | Arrival + Networking 🟢 11:30 – 12:00 | Welcome + Introduction 🟢 12:00 – 1:30 | Skill-Leveling + Live Demo 🟢 1:30 – 2:00 | Team Formation + Scoping 🟢 2:00 – 5:30 | 🚀 Build Sprint (With real-time mentor support throughout) 🟢 5:30 – 6:00 | Closing + Networking About the Hosts Re-Defined is a global community supporting 50,000+ international students, newcomers, and early-career professionals to bridge the gap between potential and opportunity through mentorship, events, and real-world experience.
